Food Export USA – Northeast launched an online seafood promotion with Annie Food starting April 4th and concluding April 25th, 2022. The featured products for the promotion were American Lobster and Atlantic Sea Scallops, both important species from the Northeast U.S. The stellar reputation that seafood from the Northeast U.S. has, including how sustainable these species are as well as how safe they are to consume, helped capture the audience and drive sales of these products.
AnnieFood is an online grocery shop that focuses on the highest quality seafood and meat products and as such has a strong reputation in the Hong Kong market. AnnieFood has plans to expand even further into the e-commerce/online marketplace as online shopping trends continue to rise.
The online promotion activites included digital ads on their website, recipe book development and distribution, as well as banners on their home page. The online promotion was also supported through social media as AnnieFood has a strong presence on Facebook as part of their partnership with Ufood magazine. The Ufood magazine Facebook account has over 750,000 followers.
As a result of the promotion, 2,500 kg of American Lobsters worth $207,500 were purchased online and 720 kg of Atlantic Sea Scallops worth $35,485 was purchased online.
Food Export uses funding from the Agricultural Trade Promotion (ATP) Program and the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
