Food Export – Northeast’s Virtual Buyers Mission Generates Export Sales for New York Pet Producer

In January of 2021, Bonne et Filou, a French-inspired high end pet treat producer of dog-friendly macarons from New York City, negotiated a sale to Hong Kong as a direct result of Food Export – Northeast’s Virtual Buyers Mission for Pet Food.

This sale of $4,700 is just one example of the success that Bonne et Filou has had with Food Export programs, which aid in the expansion of their international market awareness. They have also participated in a number of educational resources, Food Export’s Export Advisor Program, the Market Builder Program, and the Branded Program.

Bonne et Filou is the new standard in luxurious French cuisine for the posh pups of the world. It is the haute pet patisserie destination, inspired by French Royalty. With 5 flavors of dog macarons to choose from, their elegant packaging and attention to detail have taken on a corner of the market not previously addressed by traditional brands.

New to utilizing Food Export programs in 2019, the Market Access Program (MAP) Branded Program has also helped this New York Supplier expand their export markets and branding in Canada and South Korea.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
