Trade Servicing in Mexico Helps Clear Shipments of US Eggs

Through trade servicing, which utilizes MAP funding, USAPEEC Mexico helped get shipments of U.S. eggs and egg products for two companies stuck at the border released for export in late 2021.

The loads were stopped due to the USDA’s revision of two egg certificates but had yet to be confirmed by the Mexican Department of Agriculture (SENASICA). As a result, USAPEEC worked with USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) and FAS Mexico to notify SENASICA to ensure the authority shared the information with the Mexican Offices of Animal Health Inspection (known as OISAs). USAPEEC participated in several conference calls and emails to achieve these notifications, which occurred a few days later. USAPEEC estimates that the total amount jeopardized during these two issues was $5.5 million.
